The Institute of Human Rights Communication Nepal (IHRICON) has established Community Women Peace Volunteers in 4 of the 75 Districts across Nepal. In these groups there are 4 District Peace Volunteers (DPVs), 30 Community Peace Volunteers (CPVs) and 30 Community Peace Groups (CPGs) where 25 -50 women are in each group.  IHRICON has provided training to these groups on women's rights, human rights, Children Rights, Resolution 1325 and the impact of small arms.

The groups are conducting interaction programmes every month and publishing a wall newspaper on their activities and related women's issues in the village.  The groups are also running Micro credit finance schemes to support the local economy and are ensuring local communities have livelihood and income generation programmes. The groups are engaging in all kinds of District and Community related Peace Work. They carry out negotiation, mediation, reconciliation, support within the community. They also conduct interaction programmes in many forums on the involvement of women in the decision making processes and well as, relating their work to the approach to human rights as set out in UNSCR 1325.

The groups conduct street Drama, quiz contests amongst the children (on the subjects of their rights in the schools) as well as duel song competitions on subjects such as peace related issues.
