National Network

Shanti Malika
Shanti Malika, a network of women who wish to promote and support peace. It has working actively to increase women’s participation in all policy-making levels including peace-building and negotiation exercises. Many women as well as wo
men organizations working in peace and conflict transformation areas have formed Shanti Malika’. The network of these women’s organizations is active at both a Districts and National level. Women representatives from 65 districts are actively participating in this network. IHRICON is a network organization of Shanti Malika.

Federation of Nepalese Journalist (FNJ)
Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) is an umbrella organization that represents all professional journalists in Nepal. FNJ is the national network of Institute of Human Rights Communication Nepal (IHRICON).

Children as Zones of Peace (CZOP) (Net-Working)
CZOP means the protection of children affected by the Armed Conflict which occurred in Nepal and its long term impact. The CZOP project was a means to identify obstacles which would get in the way of the normal development of children. The CZOP project was to get commitment from those in authority to prioritize children's protection even during difficult time and situations as well as get all the parties concerned during the conflict to increase the growth of a peaceful environment. IHRICON is a member of CZOP National Coalition.

Human Rights Treaty Monitoring Coordination Committee (HRTMCC)
HRTMCC is a joint forum of 34 non-governmental organizations working in the field of human rights in Nepal. The forum has been active since 2003. IHRICON is one of the forum members of HRTMCC. The committee primarily focuses on monitoring the Government efforts to implement the provisions of the international human rights treaty to which it is a stated party. Preparation and submission of alternative report to the concerned UN committee is also another prime task of the coalition. The Committee also monitors the situation of human rights in the country through fact finding missions and on-the-spot investigations.

National Women Security (NWS) Watch Group

National Women Security (NWS) Watch Group is coordinated by a Founder President of Institute of Human Rights, Communication -Nepal (IHRICON) and works for Women’s Empowerment, Leadership Development on International Peace and Security . It will promote progress of women’s leadership on peace and security and empowerment in general. It also works to protect women who are facing arms and other forms of violence from security reasons. NWS Watch Group is the loose network organisation of 13 organisations: IHRICON, FWLD, HAMRO ABHIYAN, SAFERWORLD, AFN, FEDO, JAGARAN MEDIA, POURAKHI, INSEC, SANCHARIKA, JAGARAN NEPAL, SAATHI, WATCH DOG FORUM NEPAL & YAC.

The NWS focus on implementation and monitoring of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 and 1820; advocate Arms trade treaty 1997 and program of Action (POA) relating to small arms. This group will identify the success and failures of measure adopted for 1325 and 1820; to develop meaningful strategies and activities for increasing security at grass root to international level and will act as a lobby group to adopt international instruments relating to arms and ammunitions. Youth Ambassadors for Change

During a decade long armed conflict and aftermath, youths are the most affected group among others. On the one hand, most of the youths who fled broad to peruse their further study aren't willing to return back home. While on the other, Large chunk of people of Nepalese society are uneducated thereby unaware of their rights and other political happening around.

Criminal activities are on the rise along with the proliferation of arms, drugs and human trafficking throughout the country. Moreover, traditional safety and security nets in the communities are broking down day by days. Furthermore, People have very few knowledge on modern security policy and rights of the people to get security.

Given the situation, now there is a strong need to mobilize young and energetic people for such awareness campaign in the country. They can contribute in augmenting the level of awareness of student in the school and of the people of the community and society they live in. For this, a group of youth committed for social change is being formed with a different and special identity is being formed. And they are called Ambassador for Change (YAC). YAC aiming for social change will work under the umbrella of IHRICON as advocacy group and has following of objectives.

To impart their inner socialistic awareness level to other youths and children.
Informing and training the community for their rights, responsibility and security.
To enhance the morale and image of young people at national and international level.
To facilitate between needy people available resources, and
To increase the level of civic sense and responsibility among the community.
