Ms. Kamala Bishwokarma, the Vice Chairperson of Institute of Human Rights Communication Nepal (IHRICON) as well as the secretary of FEDO (Feminist Dalit Organisation) has been elected to be a member of the Local Peace Committee (LPC) for the Lalitpur District.  The Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction is on the process of forming LPCs across all 75 Districts of Nepal. The LPC has to apply the provision for the participation of 33% of women in the Committee. The main aim of the LPC is to allow local people to progress the peace process and to bring unresolved matters before the committee. Ms Bishwokarma said that “It is an honour to represent the organisations that I work for and it is also an opportunity for women’s issues to be heard as part of the peace process. I am looking forward to working with my colleagues to make a great difference to the progress made so far”.
